I would love to connect people by breaking down language barriers. We could not only host ESL classes in our facility, but members of our congregation could potentially run/teach them.
This may not be a major project but may be important for all of our communities for the rest of this year. I propose using the HUB site to input all of the area food distribution and free meals available through our specific churches, from the state and federal governments and other charitable organizations. At Asbury, we have a food pantry for the Smyrna/Clayton residents, at the Presbyterian church a block away, they have the FDA food distribution once a week and we know the Food Bank has distributions at designated places and times for each area. It would be helpful to have one site where people could go and see all the options at one place.

We would like to make more use of its current physical space for the purpose of ministry and create more opportunities for youth and young adults to participate in the life of the church.
Neighbors Network to reach out isolated people during the Coronavirus crisis at Asbury/Prospect/Trinity
People are isolated during the Coronavirus crisis, and we want to reach them using our Neighbors Network format of small groups of 7 or so households who check in on each other every day. We need to train the coordinators and train the small group leaders how to do their jobs.

There are no sports leagues at Bethel UMC. Sports teams have been an effective tool in reaching young people. How can we start something at Bethel? Maybe we could eventually have a spiritual component?
A network of home-based, practice-focused discipleship groups focused on introducing or re-introducing people to Jesus, the Bible, and spirituality through lay-led groups that the pastor periodically checks in on and coordinates. These will be low-threshold groups focused on the generalities and practical aspects of faith, at least at first, and growing from there.
